Mobile broadband on Ubuntu

I got sick and I am currently on sick leave. I have to go on our hometown to get some rest. However, I do not have an access to the internet. I need the net to check on my emails from work. I am planning to buy a mobile broadband stick and now, I got a reason to do so.

I bought a Globe Tattoo mobile broadband stick (offered by a local network in the Philippines). It works in Windows XP and Mac OS but not 'out of the box' with Linux. Good thing that the net is always available and chances are, there is someone who encountered the same problem before. I searched the net for workarounds and found one. I just followed the steps and it is done. I tested it and it works. It is even faster than the wifi at our apartment. And I posted this using the broadband. Now, I can use the internet wherever I go.
